The post-World War II expansion of the LA could only have been achieved through staff expansion; 'Dan's' appointment in 1948 achieved much more than could then have been anticipated. He strove hard and tirelessly and always knowledgeably to improve the lot, financial and otherwise, of all types of library employees and was a model membership officer, retaining his responsibilities also after promotion in 1960.
